1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Driving Theory uses cookies, local storage and similar technologies across learndrivingtheory.com and its country-specific learning areas. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

Cookies are small text files placed on a device by a website. Local storage allows a website to retain data in a browser without using a cookie. Similar technologies include tags, pixels and identifiers that help deliver, secure or measure a service.

Where consent is required, Driving Theory uses Google's certified consent-management platform. The message allows you to accept, reject or manage purposes and vendors. Your choice is communicated to Google Analytics, Google AdSense and participating advertising providers through Google's consent mode and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework where applicable.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Privacy and cookie settings link displayed on the Service. You can also remove stored data through your browser settings. Blocking all storage may affect practice-session continuity or other functionality.

3. Technologies we use

Strictly necessary storage

This category supports security, network delivery, consent records and functions specifically requested by you. It may operate without optional consent where permitted by law.

  • Consent records: Google's consent platform stores or reads information needed to remember and demonstrate your privacy choices.
  • Security and delivery: Google AdSense, hosting and security providers may use limited storage or identifiers to prevent fraud, protect the Service and deliver requested content.
  • Practice session identifier: SESSION_ID may be stored in local storage when you use a practice session. It is a random identifier used to associate answers and results from the same browser. It remains until you clear site data or it is replaced.

Analytics

With consent where required, Google Analytics 4 helps us measure visits, page views, acquisition sources and interactions. Common Google Analytics cookies include:

  • _ga, generally used to distinguish browsers and commonly retained for up to two years; and
  • _ga_<container-id>, generally used to maintain session state and commonly retained for up to two years.

Actual names, use and duration may change according to Google's configuration and policies. When analytics storage is denied, Google Analytics adjusts its use of cookies and data according to consent mode.

We use Umami Analytics, hosted at stats.domlab.space, for aggregate traffic measurement. Umami does not set cookies, collect personal information or track visitors across websites.

Advertising

With consent where required, Google AdSense and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to select, deliver, limit, secure and measure advertisements. These technologies can support personalised advertising, frequency capping, aggregated reporting and fraud detection. Their names and retention periods vary by vendor, purpose and browser.

The current vendors and purposes are available through Manage options and the partner list in the Google consent message. Google explains its advertising cookies and controls in its advertising privacy resources.

4. Browser controls

Most browsers allow you to view, delete or block cookies and site data. Browser-level blocking operates separately from the consent message and may prevent technologies from working even after you consent. Instructions are usually available in the browser's privacy or site-data settings.

You may also manage personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings. Choices made there do not necessarily delete cookies already stored in your browser.

5. Policy pages

Our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Terms of Use are intentionally presented without Google Analytics, Google AdSense or the Google consent-message tag. This lets you read the information needed to make a privacy choice without first accepting optional storage.

6. Changes and contact

We may update this Cookie Policy when technologies, providers or legal requirements change. The latest revision date appears at the top of the page.
